We set out with a vision to transform aquaculture into a more sustainable, environmentally responsible way of farming. The path was clear — fish and family come first.

We were founded in 1974 by Paul Merlin, a true pioneer in land-based aquaculture here in the Maritimes. Paul discovered his calling during his summers spent swimming and fishing in the rivers across Nova Scotia, which sparked a deep appreciation for the surrounding natural environment. He dedicated himself to studying and implementing various land-based aquaculture techniques, with the goal of minimizing the impact of fisheries on his beloved rivers and wild fish. Over time, Paul cultivated a strong passion for driving the industry toward greater sustainability, and he instilled this vision and enthusiasm in his children and grandchildren.
